WHO
CAN COME TO BOLD?
Any woman who self-identifies as lesbian, gay, dyke -- as well
as the curious. While the focus of the conference is about lesbians
50 years and over, in fact much of what is offered is of interest
to any-age lesbian. We invite and encourage lesbians of all ages
to join us at BOLDfest. We learn
from each other, no matter what the age or lifestyle. At
BOLDfest we like to challenge our own beliefs and stereotypes.
That's what keeps things interesting!

In Memory of Alison
We
obtained Joanne's permission to post the following story, to remember
and honour her friend Alison. We thank Joanne for her generous donation
to BOLDFest in Alison's memory.
30 years ago I had a friend named Alison. She committed suicide
at age 21 because she could no longer live in this world as a lesbian.
Earlier this year I found myself thinking about Alison and thinking
how nice it would be if the two of us were able to go to BOLD
together. How I wished she had been able to find a way to live and
see the changes we are all so lucky to be able to witness. I decided
then I would make an annual donation to BOLD
in honour of Alison. And by doing this I allow myself to keep her
memory alive and with me, knowing that in some small way she knows.
Someday another Alison will come along but this time she will make
it until she can attend a BOLD
conference.
